On this website, you'll have access to important information, like classroom assignments, important reminders as well as upcoming activities. I hope this site helps parents stay up-to-date on their child’s learning. Please take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with your child's curriculum for this year.

Please review your child's agenda each night. This is the main source of communication between school and home. Reviewing your child’s homework and signing this book every day will help to encourage your child to come to school prepared, and complete his/her assigned tasks each day. Encourage your child to complete all homework assignments on his/her own prior to intervening. If your child encounters problems completing the assigned work, let me know, in their agenda, and I will work to clarify the problem the next day.

Online Math Help

The Durham District School Board in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Independent Learning Centre is pleased to bring the Homework Help program to students. This program offers free math help for students in Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10. Tutoring is available from 5:30pm-9:30pm, Sunday through Thursday. The site has been re-launched for the current school year. Grade 7s will need to register (teachers can provide OEN numbers,) and grade 8 students who have already registered can login as they did last year. Get started!

Language 7/8R

Reader's Workshop

Throughout the month of September students have been participating in Reader's Workshop. Reader's Workshop is a process where the students engage in daily independent reading or writing about a novel of their choice.

Each student is encouraged to select a book suitable to their interests and reading level. Weekly they complete a journal written in letter format where they reflect upon what they have read and, discuss the connections they are making to the characters and themes in their book.

Throughout the month of October students will continue to complete daily independent reading and writing through Reader's workshop.
